I am such a failure at cooking that I only have two dishes I cook for guests (quiche or chicken pesto (which I grow on my back porch) plus I can cook hamburgers too. I am amazed by your adventuresome spirit. I love that Eric cooks pie in the am and that group cook only happens when you are traveling because, you are right, it is not nice to invite someone to play baseball if they hate it. P.S. If I hear the fire alarm go off in your home, I won't call for the fire department.

As someone who no longer cooks because it routinely fails, I love this piece! Dan is very much like Eric is in the kitchen! Just when Dan has perfected a dish, he adds something the next time. And to which "Nancy" are you referring?

Great perspective on food and life, in general!

Loved this segment! I am braver in that I'll sometimes try a brand new recipe out with guests - never the entree but something less risky.

Beautiful piece, gentlemen! I love an exploration of failures, both in form and feeling. Food is complicated because it is so tied to memories and traditions. My cousins and I have been trying to crack the code on my southern grandma's Thanksgiving sage, cornbread dressing for years. We've each tried to recreate the flavors and textures our young mouths remembered. All attempts are good, but just not IT. It occurred to me a couple of years ago that the missing ingredient might just be cigarette ash from the smoking stick that was always hanging out of her mouth while she cooked. Could be...

Anyway, really enjoyed this. The cooking club sounds fun too. Keep pouring your love into the food and into the relationships and it will always be delicious. xoxo
